Total rice stocks in the Philippines as of January 1, 2020, stood at 2.675 million tons, up about 5% from 2.551 million tons recorded during the same period last year, according to the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA). Month-on-month, total Philippines rice stocks declined by about 14% from 3.098 million tons as of December 1, 2019.

According to the BAS, household stocks (which account for about 45% of total rice stocks in the country) stood at 1.198 million tons as of January 1, 2020, about 4% from their year-ago levels of 1.248 million tons. Commercial warehouse rice stocks (which account for about 36% of total stocks) have reached 951,630 tons as of January 1, 2020, down about 21% from their year-ago levels of 1.205 million tons. The rice stocks with the National Food Authority (NFA) (which account for about 20% of total stocks) were recorded at 521,940 tons as of January 1, 2020, up from their year-ago levels of 97,910 tons.

Month-on-month, household rice stocks are down about 26%, commercial warehouse rice stocks are down about 6%, and NFA rice stocks are up about 9%, according to the PSA.
